Cargold Scholarship us provided to resident of Hancock County who is graduating or graduates of Hancock County public high school. The program was established to honor the parents of Dennis Chapman. Dennis together with Evelyn created the $1,000 scholarship fund.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age/Grade Level:
    The scholarship is open to graduating high school senior or graduates of high school with a minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Financial Need:
    Required
  • Residence:
    Applicants must be residents of Hancock County.
  • Citizenship:
    The scholarship is open to citizens of the United States of America.
  • School:
    The applicants must be graduating students or past graduates of a Hancock County public high school.
  • Miscellaneous:
    Applicants must have had their normal course of education interrupted for any reason for at least one year.

Application Details

  • Judging Criteria:
    Recipients will be chosen based on 1) Integrity (40%): Demonstration of moral and ethical principals; soundness of moral character, and honesty; 2) Determination/Perseverance (35%): Proof of an individuals determination to overcome obstacles to pursue an education that leads to improved wage-earning skills; thus, allowing them to create a successful station in life. Preference will be given to those whove sacrificed educational opportunities to care for others; and 3) Financial Need (25%).

  • Essay:
    One 500-word maximum essay explaining your personal goals and why you have selected your chosen field of study.
  • Recommendation Letters:
    Two letters of recommendation, from someone not related to the applicant, establishing the applicants integrity and determination to continue education.
  • Other Materials:
    Applicant must submit a Completed College Costs Estimator form. All applicants must submit one high-quality, color headshot (shoulders and up). A professional senior photo is preferred. HCCF reserves the right to request additional photos if the submitted photo is not acceptable.
