The scholarship was established by the family of Ian Doane Smith to honor his memory and excellence in surfing and soccer. It provides financial assistance to students on the island of Maui who are an active participant in soccer and/or surfing and planning to pursue a college education at an accredited two or four-year, not-for-profit institution within the US.
