The Jagannathan scholarship is open for graduating seniors residing in North Carolina who are planning to pursue a full-time degree program at The University of North Carolina or its constituent institutions.

Eligibility Requirements

    3.50
  • Financial Need:
    Required
  • Other Academic Requirements:
    Good SAT scores (usually 1100 or above)A Jagannathan Scholar must be enrolled for 12 or more semester hours for each term that he/she receives a Jagannathan stipend.Have demonstrated academic achievement (as indicated by class rank, cumulative GPA, and SAT scores)
  • Residence:
    The candidate should be a bona fide resident of North Carolina (of at least 12 months duration).
  • College:
    The University of North Carolina and its constituent institutions
  • Miscellaneous:
    Applicant must complete an application and be nominated by the financial aid office of one of the constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina; or by his/her high school counselor.Preference for the award is given to children of employees of Universal Fibers and related companies.
  • Other Benefits:
    If a Jagannathan Scholarship recipient is unable to begin his/her undergraduateschooling on the scheduled enrollment date, the scholarship shall be denied thestudent and offered to the next alternate designated by the selection committee. Thisruling may be appealed in the case of a major catastrophe.The maximum award is variable, nonrenewable and cannot exceed demonstrated financial need.The Jagannathan award may not be used for work on a second undergraduate degree. The Jagannathan award may not be used for postgraduate or professional study.
