The scholarship is open to current high school senior students of the Lawton, Duncan, Frederick, Elgin, and Cache public school districts for the purpose of encouraging students to pursue post-secondary education in a college or technical institution. Applicants for this scholarship must have GPA of 3.0-3.79 and have demonstrated participation in at least one extracurricular community service activity.

    Must have completed the requirements for admission to an educational institution; Weighted consideration may be given to students who may not qualify for other awards

  • Essay:
    Describe your commitment to post-secondary education, and identify the individuals or experiences leading to that commitment. (Please limit to 500 words.); Describe three activities outside the classroom (past or current) that you value and explain how each one contributed to your educational goal; Describe your career goals and how your education will help you achieve your goals. What school do you want to attend, and why is this school a good fit for you? (Please limit to 500 words.); Write an essay in which you share information about yourself and your goals: (a) Who and how did someone inspire you to continue your education? (b) Describe a defining moment in your life, and if it was a negative experience, how did you turn it around? (c) Describe a high school classroom activity or assignment that was challenging and gave you a feeling of mastery when completed. (d) Write about an adult you have met through an extracurricular activity who prompted you to consider a career or profession like theirs. Please include reference to your academic/career goals, as well as your extracurricular involvements if applicable. (500 word maximum.)
  • Recommendation Letters:
    Please submit the name and email address of someone--teacher/professor, guidance counselor, principal, community leader, or employer--who can submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. The person you request a letter from should be able to speak to your abilities and capacity in the areas of education, leadership and community service.
  • Other Materials:
    FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) or a 1040 if you cannot complete the FAFSA; Attach a photograph (head shot style, no "selfies")
