The Helen N. & Harold B. Shapira Heart Undergraduate Scholarship

American Heart Association - Greater Midwest Affiliate

This scholarship was established by the American Heart Association to support undergraduate students pursuing study pertaining to heart and blood vessel diseases. Students must be currently enrolled in a four-year college or university in the State of Minnesota. This scholarship is renewable for a second year if students maintain satisfactory scholastic progress.

Application Details

  • Judging Criteria:
    Award selection will be based on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Committee of medical and/or scientific professionals.

  • Essay:
    A personal statement that includes a brief discussion of the following points: Past Achievements; Short-term and Future Career Goals (describe where you envision yourself in your career long-term and discuss the question, why should I receive the Scholarship?)
  • Recommendation Letters:
    Letters of recommendation from two instructors who know you well.
  • Other Materials:
    A completed application form;Results of all aptitude and placement tests you have taken in high school and/or college;Proof of current enrollment in a Minnesota high school, college or university at the time of application and again at the time of award should they be selected to receive a scholarship.
