The scholarship was established to honor the memory of the former head of the Carpenter's Union, Walter Kupau and to support the descendants of Hawai'i Carpenter's Union Local 745 in their journey towards high education.

    Descendant of a member in good standing with the Hawai'i Carpenter's Union Local 745
