This scholarship was started in 1993 in memory of Darrell and Palchie Asselin. Mr. Asselin established and built Northern Photo Company in Duluth. he recognized the importance of higher education and had a strong commitment to providing financial assistance to those in need. Mr. Asselin died in 1993 and was preceded in death by his wife Palchie in 1987. This scholarship was intended to support students who are 22 years old or greater, primary caregiver to one or more children, and in the last half of their undergraduate degree at UMD, UWS or St. Scholastica.
