This is a design based scholarship and candidates will be required to submit documentation of a hands-on project that illustrates both creativity and innovation. The scholarship is open to students who plan to pursue a career in a STEM field and eligible to enroll or currently enrolled at a two or four year accredited college or university with a full course of undergraduate study or a vocational-technical school. Applicants must be citizen or legal permanent residents of the United States and must be in good academic standing.

Leone H. Berg established this scholarship to honor Jerome Jerry Oscar Berg's achievements in engineering and his Appleton High School heritage. Jerry was a resident engineer at General Motors and Ford Motor Company who despite never had the chance to finish college was one of a handful of engineers with ultimate responsibility to ensure that high-quality cars were being manufactured. He was precise, had a great attention to detail and passionate about his work and life as well. This scholarship benefits graduating seniors from Appleton West High School exemplifying the character traits that Jerry shared and valued. Students must be planning to pursue a career in engineering.
