The scholarship was established in 2011 in loving memory of Roger F. Wendt. The purpose of the program is to assist seniors graduating from Sioux City public high schools in their pursuit of a post-secondary education at an accredited college/university in the field of education.

Eligibility Requirements
- Age/Grade Level:Must be graduating high school seniors
- Minimum GPA:3.0
- Financial Need:Preferred
- School:Must be graduating seniors from Sioux City, East, North, or West High School
- Major/Career:Must be pursuing a degree in the field of education

- Judging Criteria:Selection of recipients is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, school and/or community service activities, financial need, and essay evaluation.
