Heintz, Joseph Memorial Band Scholarship was established in memory of Joseph Heintz who bravely faced Leukemia. The program provides funds for a graduating WDHS band student to pursue studies beyond high school.

    The scholarship is open to graduating students from Wisconsin Dells High School.

    The awardee must be planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, or technical school.
  • Organization:
    Participation in the WD band for all four years of high school. Preference will be given to candidates involved in all aspects of the WD band program and higher preference will be given to candidates also in the jazz ensemble for all four years at WDHS.

    Write a Financial Need Statement (no more than 500 words) and your Career Plan (no more than 500 words).
  • Recommendation Letters:
    Include Two Letters of Recommendation, one from school (i.e. teacher, coach, club advisor), and one from the community (i.e. employer, pastor, youth leader, neighbor, etc..). A Letter of Recommendation - student worksheet may be requested in the HS counseling office.
  • Other Materials:
    In their scholarship submission, candidates should provide evidence of the WD Way in a band. This must include (and is not limited to) their commitment to serving others, their stewardship to the band, and their achievements in the WD band program. Proof of acceptance and/or enrollment in an accredited college, university, or technical school. In addition, enrollment in that institution's band program for at least one semester is required. This scholarship will be awarded after the WDEF administrators are provided with proof of completion of one semester in band. Make copies for each local scholarship for which you apply and one additional copy to remain in the counseling office-only one, not one for each scholarship. Staple all of the above components together for each application (you may use a cover sheet with the name of the scholarship and your name on it, but please do not use plastic or heavy paper report covers).
