James A. Hyter Vocal Music Scholarship

Community Foundation of Greater Memphis

This scholarship was established in memory of James A. Hyter, a musician who had more than 30 years of experience singing with the Memphis Symphony Chorus and the choir at St. Lukes United Methodist Church. Mr. Hyter gave his music his heart, and his life to serving the Memphis community. This scholarship was created by the help of Elizabeth Nielsen, a legal secretary by funding secured from her employer, Morgan Keegan. The scholarship aims to benefit students with vocal talent and a love of music.
