This scholarship was established by Laura Rowe Burdick who was a principal and teacher at Wailuku Elementary School. The purpose of this scholarship is to benefit graduating high school seniors from a school in Maui County who are planning to attend an accredited, two or four-year, not-for-profit institution within the US (including US territories). Students who can preserve and complete a program of study are preferred. Individuals who want to return to Maui County after completing their education or training in order to contribute to the community that formed them are also given preference.
