Eligibility Requirements

  • Age/Grade Level:
    The applicant must have an MD, Ph.D., JD or other doctoral degrees. Applicants currently enrolled in accredited doctoral degree programs that have not yet fulfilled all degree requirements will be considered for entry into the program, with the understanding that all requirements will be completed before the start of the CPFP.

  • Residence:
    The applicant must be a permanent resident of the United States (or U.S. citizen).
  • Citizenship:
    The applicant must be a U.S. citizen (or permanent resident). Applicants may also be an Irish citizen of the Republic of Ireland, or a citizen of the European Union (EU) currently employed on the island of Ireland if applying through the Ireland-Northern Ireland-NCI Cancer Consortium.
  • Major/Career:
    The applicant must have a doctoral degree in a related discipline (e.g., basic science, epidemiology, health services research, medicine, behavioral science, nursing, social science, nutrition, health education/health promotion, law, dentistry, statistics, geography, exercise science, or engineering).
  • Miscellaneous:
    Applicants must have less than five years of relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment.
  • Other Benefits:
    As part of the program, we offer training toward an MPH degree at an accredited university during the first year, followed by mentored research with investigators at the National Cancer Institute.
