Northern Virginia Urban League Scholarship is a $5,000 fund given to graduating high school seniors who met the eligibility requirements. The scholarship awards up to eight students. The program aims to provide support to students who plan to enroll in a full-time college program.

  • Citizenship:
    The applicant must be a U.S. Citizens.
  • School:
    The applicant must be graduating from an accredited public or private high school in Alexandria, Arlington, Loudon, Manassa, VA, Manassas Park, VA, Prince William, Falls Church City or Fairfax county school system.
  • College:
    The applicant must have been accepted to, or have applied to, an accredited college/university in the United States as a member of the freshman class.
  • Ethnicity:
    The applicant must be an African-American student.

    Please submit a typed essay, not exceeding 300 words, on the following topic:What does the expression Black Lives Matter (BLM) mean? How and why did this movement come about? Who is against this movement and why? What is Blue Lives Matter? What does that mean? How and why did it come about and how does it relate to the BLM movement?
  • Recommendation Letters:
    The applicant must submit a minimum of three written recommendations to include one counselor and one teacher or school administrator.
  • Other Materials:
    Submit a personal photograph--a graduation picture will be accepted, no xerox copies.
