This scholarship was established in memory of Steven John Duranceau to benefit students who were involved with the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts of the United States of America for a minimum of two years.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Financial Need:
    Required
  • Residence:
    Eligibility is restricted to students with a permanent address* located within the Community Foundation service area. The Community Foundation service area includes the City of Aurora, southern Kane County, and Kendall County within the State of Illinois.
  • College:
    Eligibility is restricted to students who will attend an accredited institution of higher education within the United States of America on a full-time basis during the 2016-2017 academic year. Accredited institutions may include a two-year college, four-year college or university, professional/trade/vocational school, or graduate school.
  • Organization:
    Boy Scouts of America or the Girl Scouts of the United States of America
  • Miscellaneous:
    Eligibility is limited to students who submit a 2016-2017 SAR or participate in the National School Lunch Program.

  • Recommendation Letters:
    Letter of Recommendation. Anyone who knows the student well (preferably not family) can write a recommendation/evaluation. We prefer to have the recommendations/evaluations submitted by the recommender or evaluator, however, we will accept them from the applicant.
