The award is given to individuals who have exhibited the potential to make contributions to the family and consumer sciences profession. Applicant must be currently pursuing or will pursue a degree in family and consumer sciences or related specialized programs at the undergraduate level and is (or will be) enrolled for the academic year and is making satisfactory progress.

  • Organization:
    Members of the AAFCS Board of Directors, Awards and Recognition Committee are not eligible to apply during their terms of office

Application Details

  • Judging Criteria:
    Applications will be evaluated using the point system and can be awarded no more than 100 points. 1. FCS major declared/ admitted to undergraduate program (5pts); 2. Biographical sketch (250 words) relevance to program;Personal statement about yourself; influences, passions, etc (15pts); 3. Professional goals clearly stated, short and long term (20pts); 4. Resume (15pts); 5. Special recognitions/awards/scholarships (5pts); 6. Participation/volunteering in FCS and other community and service activities (5pts); 7. Letters of recommendation: evidence of leadership, character, accepts responsibility, relevant participation (15pts)8. Transcript (10pts); 9. Overall Scholarship Packet (complete, organized, grammar, spelling, etc); Bonus Points: AAFCS Membership: Less than 6 months (2 points); 6 mo 1 year (3 points); 1 year + (5 points)
