Established in 2012, the award recognizes and rewards promising young engineers and scientists in fields pertaining to this Energy Technology Division. Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university as a graduate student or have been accepted for enrollment by the nomination deadline. Recipient of the award is encouraged to initiate or continue careers in this field.

Recipient is also required to present a lecture in an ETD-sponsored symposium at the designated Society meeting where the award is presented.
