John F. Hinrichs Memorial Scholarship

The National Robotic Arc Welding Conference, the AWS Milwaukee Section, the D 16 Committee and the many friends and colleagues of John F. Hinrichs established this scholarship to continue his legacy. John F. Hinrichs was an Engineers Engineer who mentored and empowered many people. He believed that education and training are the key components in making any technology, person or company successful. This scholarship is open to students who are working toward a 1-year diploma in a welding-related field only, toward a 2 year Associates degree in welding or engineering related field having completed thefirst year; or working toward a Bachelors degree or higher in a welding or engineering related field.

    Award selection will be based on AWS membership, extracurricular activities, academic record, personal statement, recommendations, financial need and interview.

  • Recommendation Letters:
    Two letters of reference only i.e., one documenting previous hands-on welding experience and the other documenting your ambitions, goals, leadership, and any other factors to assist the Committee in judging your eligibility.
  • Other Materials:
    Application (form);Statement of Unmet Financial Need completed by an accredited academic institution even if no FAFSA was filed;Verification of Enrollment completed by college or university;Recipients may be asked to submit a 5 x 7 head and shoulders color photograph for publicity purposes.
