The scholarship is available to low-income single parents who are Bay Area residents and who will be enrolled full or part-time in an undergraduate level study at an accredited, not-for-profit 2 or 4-year institution in the fall. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age/Grade Level:
    Graduating high school seniors and college undergraduate students
  • Financial Need:
    Required
  • Residence:
    Must be resident of San Francisco Bay Area. The Bay Area's nine counties are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma
  • College:
    Must be enrolled full or part-time in an accredited, not-for-profit two or four-year institution in the applicable academic year for an undergraduate degree
  • Extracurricular:
    Additional consideration is given to applicants who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities, show strong leadership experience, and active community involvement.
  • Miscellaneous:
    Must be a legal parent/guardian of one or more minor children

  • Essay:
    In 1,000 words or less, please explain why you should be selected as a recipient of our Single Parent Scholarship. Draw upon your academic, professional, volunteer and personal experiences to demonstrate how you have overcome the challenges of being a single parent. Describe how you are a leader in your community. In addition, state how your career goals and future aspirations will contribute to your continued growth as a leader in your community.
