Scholarships for Minnesota Residents

With its bustling metropolis, plethora of lakes and luxurious ski resorts, Minnesota lives up to its motto, L’Etoile du Nord (the Star of the North). If those things aren’t enough to convince you, consider this: As a Minnesota resident, you may be eligible for one or more college scholarships, simply by living in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Many of the available scholarships are funded by the state of Minnesota, such as the Minnesota Academic Excellence Scholarship, the Minnesota State Grant, the Minnesota Indian Scholarship and the Alliss Opportunity Grant Program for Adults Returning to College. Others are offered by individual schools, including the University of Minnesota, Minnesota State University and the Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Applying students will typically be required to meet a minimum grade point average, and may also need to write a submission essay, obtain letters of recommendation or demonstrate a certain level of financial need.
