TREE Fund

Fran Ward Women in Arboriculture Scholarship Program aims to foster an appreciation of shade trees and practice of arboriculture in Pennsylvania and Delaware. The scholarship is provided to university or college female students whoa re residents of Pennsylvania and Delaware. The award gives $2,000 for each eligible applicants.

    The awardee must be currently enrolled in a major, minor, option, or program of arboriculture, horticulture, forestry, or urban forestry.

Application Details

  • Judging Criteria:
    Recommendations on scholarship awards will be presented to the TREE Fund Board of Trustees for final approval at or before the Summer Board Meeting and will be announced within 30 days of their decision.Applications will be scored on the following scale:GPA (20 points)Essay (30 points)1st letter of recommendation (20 points)2nd letter of recommendation (20 points)Potential for continuing in arboriculture or urban forestry (10 points)

  • Essay:
    Essay describing relevant subjects currently being studies, which subjects are the most enjoyable and why, any experience in arboriculture or urban forestry, and how you intend to make a career in this field (maximum 1000 words).
  • Recommendation Letters:
    Two letters of recommendation or contact information for people who will provide them (must be from advisors or teachers connected with the relevant course work or program).
  • Other Materials:
    The applicant must submit a Proof of Pennsylvania or Delaware residency (copy of current drivers license, state ID, or utility bill dated within 30 days of application submission).
