This scholarship was established to award excellence in writing across all sections such as news, arts, lifestyle, people stories. This scholarship was named after Donna Darovich, a Star-Telegram reporter who won consecutive feature-writing first places in Associated Press Managing Editors competitions.She was twice named the states Most Outstanding Woman Journalist. This scholarship is open to students attending a college, university or junior college in pursuit of a career in the field of journalism.

    An essay (500 words maximum) on your reasons for pursuing a journalism career, the type of journalism youre interested in, and how you are preparing for that career; include anything about you that the scholarship committee should know, such as exceptional financial need.

    Two recommendation letters, on letterhead, from faculty members or a publications adviser.
  • Portfolio/Work Samples:
    Three samples of work published in 2016 (for copy editors, before and after edited stories).
  • Other Materials:
    Completed application form.
