Scholarships for Nebraska Residents

Whether you’re interested in ancient fossils, rodeos or the AppleJack Festival, you’re sure to find something to do in Nebraska. Many of the available scholarships are funded by the state of Nebraska as well as the federal government, including the Access College Early Scholarship Program, the Community College Gap Assistance Program and the Nebraska Opportunity Grant. Others are provided by individual colleges, such as the University of Nebraska, Metropolitan Community College, Chadron State College and Bellevue University. The purpose of this scholarship is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship. Interested high school students first compete at the local American Legion Post level, with the winner advancing to the District contest. District contest winners then advance to Area competition and the four Area winners advance to the State Finals.
