Scholarships for Athletics

Ready to put your athletic skills to use to help pay for college? If so, this is the right place to be. There are a variety of scholarships available to student athletes. Many athletic scholarships, especially those awarded by local community foundations, are reserved for graduating high school seniors planning to attend an accredited institution, others are available to students athletes up to age 25. While academic achievement may be a factor in the selection process, many scholarships for athletics give more weight to athletic participation – in sports such as basketball, track and field and cheerleading – good sportsmanship and community service. Financial need also may be a factor. Students applying for these scholarships may be asked to submit an essay, as well as letters of recommendation from coaches and others.
